What a Cookie Is

Cookies are small text files placed in your browser by a site you visit and returned to that site on subsequent requests. Local storage, pixels and similar mechanisms achieve the same result; this policy treats them all under the same heading.

Cookies by Purpose

Three groups. Essential: needed for the site to work at all, including security and storing your own cookie preference. Analytics: used where an analytics tool is running, to count visits and page views in aggregate. Advertising: set by ad partners where advertising is served, for frequency capping, measurement and personalisation.
